For all those just seeing this thread now like I did, I can confirm that I activated my card by selecting a movie and filling in a prompt for the last 4 digits of my card.
Note: I haven't gone to the theater and actually finished the process yet.

Otherwise people were saying it didn't actually activate although it said it was ready. The app will have this final step "Check In" screen but will ask for the last 4 digits of your Movie Pass card. If you have already requested activation and not received an email please click. If you can see the last 4 digits of your card in the app then it's already set up.

I ended up buying the ticket with my credit card and took a photo of the receipt and emailed and Facebooked them a message with the photo.
No need to activate or anything.

Although the app still performs like shit so I doubt I'll be able to use it smh. I just got my card today (Oct 20) and was able to activate from my house. Each year on the members birthday, they are entitled to one (1) free Grand Recliner movie ticket. The website still needs a lot of work in this area. Once submitted, the gift card will be activated and ready for use within 24hrs. It sounded...overly convoluted, so I was wondering if that was even necessary. After spending a lot of frustrating time searching for answers I think I have the activation process figured out. I sent an email a while ago to them about a different issue and I still haven't gotten more than an auto response. Once it is entered, it said you're card is now registered.

In case anyone wants to know, I just today (10/10) got my Movie Pass card. I tried to contact them via the app and no response. :). Awesome! Yet others say it's as simple as checking in to a movie and confirming the last four digits of the card in the app itself. When I got to the theater, I hit the check in button and it asked me to input those digits into the app. You wizard, this is totally why I’m here right now! Nothing on their website did anything, its all on the app. Your card is not activated. Once the card is received: Use Internet Explorer on your desktop/laptop Login to https://www.moviepass.com/auth/session Click on Activate button. This worked for me! For example your billing cycle is from 10/20 to 11/20 or is it 10/1 to 11/1. Worked great, no issues! I used my Moviepass for the first time yesterday.
I found no information about this process beyond the FAQs saying "activate your card" I think this was under the How do I use my MoviePass question. Simply go to the activation page using the button below and enter the card number and PIN, to activate the card. Nope but I would be impressed if sometime within the year I do.
We went to the theatre yesterday. The reason I ask this is that in the slickdeals forum a few days ago, they were sharing a specific URL you had to load and apparently (though it was debated heavily) use Internet Explorer in order to activate your card properly. Now when I check my "MoviePass Card" under "Profile" on the app it changed from "Card Processing" to my card number. I found no help on the official site. You must agree to the terms and conditions of the moviebuys program in order to be able to become a member.
Instead of saying processing it should now show a line of hastags plus the last 4 digits. You're right about the website being super lacking as far as card activation goes.
